About Me.
My name is Marilyn Nimmo, and I am currently pursuing my Master’s degree in Communication Studies at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, with an expected graduation date of May 16, 2025. This advanced academic journey has allowed me to refine my expertise in organizational communication, marketing strategy, and leadership while actively contributing to research, teaching, and professional development.

Throughout my time in the program, I have been deeply involved in academic conferences, both as an attendee and as an assistant in coordinating events. Notably, I served as a Conference Coordinating Assistant for the Central States Communication Association (CSCA) and as Secretary for the Instructional Division at the Western States Communication Association (WSCA). These roles have strengthened my organizational skills and expanded my professional network within the field of communication.

Beyond conferences, I have worked closely with faculty on research projects, gaining hands-on experience in data analysis, rhetorical writing, and communication strategy. This involvement has deepened my understanding of how communication theories apply to real-world organizational challenges.

In addition to research and academic contributions, I have honed my leadership skills as a course instructor at UNLV, teaching public speaking and substituting for various communication courses. Through this role, I have guided students in developing their presentation skills, fostering confidence, and mastering the art of effective communication. My ability to mentor students and create engaging, student-centered learning environments has further reinforced my passion for education and training.

Originally from California, I have always thrived in fast-paced, dynamic environments. My background as a student-athlete, competitor for the UNLV Rodeo Team, and working professional across multiple industries has shaped my drive for success. Whether in academia, the workplace, or competitive arenas: I bring dedication, adaptability, and a strong work ethic to every endeavor. Nonetheless, as I approach the next chapter in my career, I am eager to leverage my experiences in communication, leadership, and marketing to make a meaningful impact in the workplace.
